Carbohydrates (Carbs) are one of the main macronutrients that provide a key source of energy to your body. 💃🏽 They are made up of three components: Fiber, sugar & starch. Fiber and starch are COMPLEX carbs sugar is a SIMPLE carb.
You’ve probably seen many fads diets or even had friends the try to stay away from carbs to lose weight.😐 Choosing to have carbs as a part of your nutrition doesn’t always equal weight gain. It is a matter of choosing the “right” carbs for you and your goal.
You can find carbohydrates is many different foods. Yes, they aren’t just in breads and pastas! 🍋
Sugary foods and sweets
SIMPLE carbs are sugars and digest very quickly. If you ever find me recommending these to my clients, it’s usually because they are going to compete in a sports competition or event.
COMPLEX carbs have more nutrients than simple carbs. They also take longer to digest which is great for clients looking to stay fuller longer and who want to lose or maintain a healthy weight. They are also an important part of nutrition for people who have Type 2 diabetes because complex carbs help them keep their blood sugar regulated.
