So it’s been ten years since I graduated from the university, (thanks to Facebook for the reminder)- and yes, Ten years ago, I had no lofty or high aspirations, I wasn’t clear about where I wanted to go, nor what I wanted to do... I had just finished my first degree in Public Law, International Relations major and I desperately wanted to go back to study medicine instead. I was very confused as to how to go about it... three things stopped me....first, there was no logical way of funding my ambition, second, was the time it would take me to go through medical school and third, was the amount of money I would be giving up during this time in medical school, that is, the amount of money I could have made... Medical school was only my dream, and sometimes, dreams alone are merely enough.
But then again, I was clueless about the direction of the future, I didn’t know what to make of my degree... the United Nations seemed like the only destination...and at the time it seemed impossible.
I eventually decided to trust God and take each step at a time, bearing in mind, all along my dad’s favorite words...“whatever you find to do...do it well”. Yes, it’s been ten years, and looking back now, I really could have been a medical doctor..but, hey! it’s been ten years of new heights daily...Each day has been better than the former, and I am steadily building a career in diplomacy, traveling around the world, raising a beautiful family, fulfilling purpose and a little more.
