I’ve been made fun of my entire life... I never felt like I truly fit in anywhere and jokes have always been made at my expense. I realized though a long time ago that it was very important for my soul to never allow people to control or dictate who I am as a person. I go against the grain a lot, not intentionally but once again, being yourself usually means you’re gonna go against what is “normal” in society. This inevitably makes you “different” and opens you up to people poking fun because of their own insecurities. From my fashion, an obsession with sunsets, drinking wine, that I like being a “pretty boy”, my love of Spanish music and chick flicks... these and a hundred other personality traits make up who I am and I’ll never be afraid to show it regardless of what others think. It’s pretty messed up that we live in a reality where being yourself and showing the world the real you is scary and requires courage but then again, that means there is huge opportunity to stand out from the herd. I’m always evolving, learning more about myself, and I’m happy to have this platform to showcase the real me. This is my dad. I’m 25 and he’s 91. ⁣ ⁣ My dad is the toughest man I know. ⁣ ⁣ Hes an entrepreneur & he came to the U.S. with nothing. ⁣ ⁣ He served for the U.S. as a 19 year old kid in World War II barely able to speak English⁣ ( stationed in Seoul for 2 years.) ⁣ He was broke, had no support from his family, traveled state to state looking for a job as a low paying cook and ended up owning his own famous restaurant for nearly 20 years despite all his struggles. ⁣ ⁣ He calls it luck.....⁣ ⁣ I call it hard fucking work.⁣ ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ I write this for two reasons... ⁣ ⁣ One, because I know my entrepreneur roots come from him. Running on 4hrs of sleep, Mike called me before I was about to take a nap and well as you can see I didn’t take that nap! Went to planet to knock out my 1st workout with Mike. It took us 1hr28min to finish. We did 15,12,10,8,8,10,12,15 chest presses with every last rep negatives, 15,12,10,8 lat pull downs with every last rep negatives, 3x30 tricep press with every last rep negatives, and 15,12,10,8,8,10,12,15 low rows with every last rep negatives to finish it off!! There was a young boy that came and just stood there for a good minute staring at us chest pressing, he then dropped and did sit-ups in front of us. That was awesome and one hell of a workout!! Going to read my 10pgs, rest, and relax for a few hours. These are 2 of my favorite photos from when I served in Afghanistan as part of the mentoring task force. .. These photos remind me of the innocence and purity of children. Even in a war-torn country children aren’t born with hatred. .. It’s not until they are affected by the influence of adults and their actions. Some children will adapt to ideas and emotions that are not even theirs. .. A young mind can be molded very easily. .. These photos remind me how important being a good role model is for children. .. They also remind me of the characteristics that make an Australian soldier great , Caring , fair , open hearted, honorable , respectful , leadership , loving , humorous , grateful and tough. .. These characteristics is why most children from the province I was in Afghanistan loved Australian soldiers. They would come and spend time with us and want to be in our presence when on patrols. We would even trade food and gifts often. .. When other nations militaria passed through the children would rarely if never approach them. .. Good role models or a lack of can change the course of a child’s life forever. .. We don’t need more conflict we need more role models. .. I’m so happy today and very grateful. . I was able to pay my dues at the gym, and that felt amazing. . Getting my time in the Gym, it helps me align my thoughts and goals. . I see myself everyday, at the beginning I couldn’t see change at all on body. One thing I did feel was my way of thinking, my mind set was expanding. . Understanding how my day will go, is the results from managing the time to go pay my dues at the gym. . I keep working hard, and when I someone tells me I’ve inspired them to make a move or change to their life, it’s so fulfilling to me. . Might not be much for some but I’m very happy with our new addition! A TON of work to get this and 6 attachments but it’ll definitely be a blessing and help do a lot around the place that needs done. Most importantly I won’t have to ask to borrow equipment so I can use it whenever I want. Thanks to Wyoming banks for understanding the value! Another long and fulfilling day. 1st workout jog back and forth for 45mins with the pups!! 3.5mi walk at work. Before leaving to my route a coworker tells/asks me “I see you walking everyday, why are you walking when you can ride the shuttle like everybody else?!” Simple response “I’m not everybody!” After work came home chilled with my pops then read my 10pgs and got ready for my 2nd workout. I did 5 sets of everything.. 5x20 front raises each arm, 5x20 upward rows, 5x20 squats, 5x20 butt kicks each leg, 5x5min bagwork. I’m tired, and my body isn’t currently happy with me. What I thought were symptoms of my monthly, are more than likely symptoms of at least minor lactose intolerance. So I’m cutting back just about all added dairy in my diet. There is some in my protein powders, but I’m going to scale it back a lot and see what happens. Those of you that know me well will know how difficult this is for me. I love cheese, and Greek yogurt had become my “dessert” when I had a sweet craving. - - I have to admit that if I wasn’t doing #75hard  and drinking all that water everyday, I would’ve been miserably dehydrated. Thankfully if only slowed me down some with many trips to the ladies room. TMI, I know. lol 😂 - - I did make it into @s2faction  to catch up with @a_pro_s2  today, refilled a few things and picked up a few others. Did the fancy body analysis thing and I have to admit it’s pretty cool. You wouldn't run a marathon in hiking boots 🥾 would you?! - I hope you said hell no! Why? They're heavy, it will take us a lot longer to reach the finish and it would be harder on the body to get us there BECAUSE they're heavy. - I'm a huge advocate of whole food over supplements, except for the post workout setting. - During training we're putting the body under stress. Its natural reaction is to release cortisol to help combat the stress but also put other functions, like digestion, on the back burner until it's reduced. - So while a banana (for example) is quickly digested and great for some PRE workout fuel, it can take 3 or more hours to fully digest it POST workout because of this. - Whole food in this case becomes that hiking boot for post workout repair & recovery. So we need the Ferrari of running shoes right?! - We're in the gym taxing our bodies, working our asses off for one goal or another and we all want to get there as fast as possible. We have an ideal window post workout to take advantage of (30 mins-1 hour) to give our body the best chance of accomplishing that. - Having something that's quickly digesting is the key 🔑 - @1stphorm  Phormula-1 is a hydrolyzed whey protein isolate, it's going to immediately flood the muscle to begin that repair process. Book review time: Can’t Hurt Me by @davidgoggins  . I freaking loved this book! I like a lot of books but I freaking loved this one. It made me want to go to war with myself every single day. If you get easily offended, then this book might not be for you. Because it addresses the very core of why we decide not to reach our fullest potential. . Most of us are only putting out 40% of what we’re capable of. That should fucking offend you or move you or wake you up or something. You know that you have a ton more inside of you to give. You’ve never died from exertion, so that tells you right there that you haven’t given anything your all. I feel privileged to be inspired by this man. . I would recommend this book and the lessons in it to anyone who thinks they can put out more than they’re currently doing. 🔥Post workout Nutrition🔥 . Carbs after a workout? What!!!?? . Believe me I though the same thing until I got educated on what your body actually needs post workout . To start, let’s talk about what the body does while you’re working out. Specifically resistance training . When you’re training you’re breaking down your muscles and during this they utilize glycogen stores for energy . You know when your hair closely resembles a birds nest you’ve had a good workout 😂 . I talked about nutrition sustainability the other day and working out is just the same. You’ve got the find something that YOU enjoy. . And guess what? That may change. . I started lifting in the gym and doing bodybuilding style of workouts for about the past 3 years. . At the start of this year I was starting to dread going to the gym. It was such a chore, I was maybe going twice a week and I was simply not enjoying my workouts. . That was a major red flag for me since working out has always been something that I’ve enjoyed. So I tried something new! And that just so happened to be CrossFit. (Which if you know me is a huge deal because I used to trash talk it SO MUCH). . Turns out, I love it! The challenge is great, I’m looking forward to working out again and it’s something I am consistently doing. . This is not to say to go out and start doing CrossFit. But if you’re feeling burnt out with your current routine, try something new! Whether that be yoga, swimming, EMOM’s in the gym, at home workouts, try it all! See what works for you. . Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) might be the most talked about supplement outside of pre workouts, but are they really all that? Honestly they are not the most impactful supplement if protein intake is sufficient. • BCAAs are 3 of the 9 Essential Amino Acids that are the 3 needed to trigger Muscle Protein Synthesis, Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. The key word is trigger, not carry out. BCAAs are not quite anabolic (muscle building) due to the fact that the rest of the 9 Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) are not present, however they do prove to be Anti-Catabolic Catabolic=Muscle Protein Breakdown or Muscle wasting. The past 75 days have been an absolute challenge. Every day had a different difficulty and yeah I had times I wanted to just cheat and not say anything. Who would know? But that's what its all about.
