Too much of anything is toxic.
Alcohol. Cigarettes. Drugs. Sex. Friendship. Even love.
When I watched this glorious movie back in the day, this was one of the incredible dialogues that struck me the most.
We all think that in our busy schedules, if we only had someone to stay with us all the time, all places, a shoulder to lean on, we would be so much happier. But reality is we won't.
Imagine yourself, with the same person, every day, you wake up with them, travel with them, eat with them, work with them, sleep with them and repeat. As much as this idea sounds pleasing, especially to the newer, younger generation, it isn't. When you get too much of something/someone, its value keeps on decreasing. We are all social animals, sure, but we do need space. Distance. Even people with words like, 'I just can't get enough of them,' get tired of the other person, eventually.
All these successful friendships, relationships and marriages you see are what they are because there's absence of another's presence.
Too much distance destroys relationships, so does too much kinship.
After all, too much of anything is toxic.
