And no, I’m not just referring to exam stress. I’m talking about the stress of seeing others in pain. The stress of home life. The stress and confusion when all seems to be going right, yet deep down, it doesn’t feel like it.
I believe every person has their stress outlet. For some (including myself), it’s exercise. I can feel miserable, overwhelmed, stressed to the point of sickness yet it will uplift my mood in a way I cannot describe. It’s a blessing of God, taken all too much for granted.
This summer holiday, I’ve dealt with new stresses. And at points, I’ll admit I haven’t handled it well. The tension has felt very misplaced at times, since we usually associate stress so closely with exams and work. My point is, sometimes we dedicate so much time and effort into our work and education, and not enough time into our homes and families. Stress exists there too, and should be approached with the same mindset.
How do you deal with daily stress? Meditation, laughter, writing, mindfulness, music or maybe playing with your cat. Whatever it may be, experiment until you find it!
