Growing up in America, I recall thinking about how much I disliked being Asian. I grew up always being “The Token Asian Guy” within my group of predominantly Caucasian friends. Always hearing the jokes and stereotypes that went along with being asian made me even more resentful. Also, I grew up in and continue to see a society that view Asian Men as unattractive, undesirable or not sexy. .
I just want to voice my discontent at America’s view on Asian men. I definitely notice that often times as an asian man, I have been automatically written off by women. I’m not an adonis, but you disqualify any notion of anything purely because I am of Asian heritage? What?
Why are Asian women often seen as exotic and desirable (Often times referred to as Yellow Fever) but the same cannot be said for Asian men?
I don’t know, but I just want to use my platform to voice some underlying discontent amongst many of us. You may not agree, you may not be able to relate, and thats okay. But just know that theres always an uphill battle for somebody... Btw, its not something I’m currently going through, its just an annoyance that I feel needs to be addressed.
