A dark snake in the sky. Can you see on the left the S-shaped dust lane in front of the Milky Way star clouds? Swipe to zoom out and see wider angle views of this area. The tiny dark nebula known as the Snake is one of my favorite gems in the night sky, photographed recently when it was next to the dazzling light of Jupiter. They are like other interstellar clouds, mainly made of hydrogen, but with more dust particles and dense enough to block the light from stars behind them. The Snake is little and invisible to the eye but easy to reveal in this single one-minute exposure through a telephoto lens (Sigma 135mm 1.8), on a small star-tracking mount (Vixen Polarie). ⁣ ⁣The big dark nebula in the second slide is known as the Pipe, visible to unaided eyes in dark sky. ⁣ ⁣@twanight  @natgeoimagecollection  @sigmaphoto  #astrophotography  #astronomy  #snakenebula  #milkyway  ⁣ ⁣

The phrase also applies to the fact that I was out shooting photos at 2:00 on a Monday morning. After this, I would have only a few hours sleep, then have to drive for over four hours to get back to Sydney for a client appointment. The dividing line between dedication and obsession becomes less distinct each time I cross it! One of my online friends commented today that he’d love it if humans could see the Milky Way in this much detail. That left me wondering if we might have a different approach to how we light our cities and towns. Would we put more thought into how much artificial lighting we would deploy, lest we miss out on the free and fantastic light show stretched out above us? I didn’t do any stitching, stacking, or blending for this photo. The shot is a single-frame capture, taken using my Canon EOS 6D camera, a Samyang 14mm f/2.4 lens @ f/2.4, using an exposure time of 20 seconds @ ISO 6400. Lighting was provided by a Litra Pro LP1200 bi-colour LED unit, hand-held by yours truly. - . . . . . #longexposureoftheday  #wonderful_places  #wonderfulplaces  #beautifuldestinations  #thegreatoutdoors  #photopills  #natgeospace  #ig_worldclub  #nightshooterz  #nightshooters  #nightpics  #nightphotography  #nightimages  #night_excl  #milkywaygalaxy  #milkyway  #longexposure_shots  #longexposure  #longexpohunter  #longexpo  #fantasticuniverse  #astrophotography  #astrophoto  #amazingphotohunter  #amazingearth  #amazing_longexpo  #longexposurephotography

When I first saw the milky way starting to line up it was a pretty crazy. I only had about 30 minutes of visibility so no time to mess around. Luckily I was able to get a few shots in. I also got special permission to go out here at night. Exif: Camera Sony a6000 astromod. Alone the exposure time is 24 hours (3 nights) processing process is added. This region of our Milky Way can only be seen to a limited extent from Europe. That's why the astrophotographers only have limited time to take pictures. In southern latitudes, this motif offers a grandiose mixture of diverse colors. In part, dust clouds cover the star fields behind. At a distance of about 427 light years, this cloud is one of the closest star formation area. EQUIPMENT: William Optics RedCat 51 CentralDS D850 Astro cooled Skywatcher EQ6GT MGEN II Guiding Hutech IDAS D1 FB: Mehmet Ergün Photography IG: https://www.instagram.com/mehmet.erguen/ EXIF: 6 Panel Mosaic á Panel 48x300sec. ISO800 / 250mm / F4.9 Location: La Palma / 2019 - #longexposure_shots  #nightimages  #nightshooterz  #nightshooters  #nightpics  #milkywaygalaxy  #astrophotography  #astrophoto  #astro_photography_  #astro_photography  #longexposure  #longexpohunter  #longexpo  #amazing_longexpo  #amazingearth  #milkyway  #nightphotography  #night_excl  #amazingphotohunter  #fantasticuniverse  #nightphotography  #nightimages  #night_excl  #longexposurephotography

Jupiter in Ultraviolet 🔭 Jupiter looks a bit different in ultraviolet light. To better interpret Jupiter's cloud motions and to help NASA's robotic Juno spacecraft understand the planetary context of the small fields that it sees, the Nasahubble telescope is being directed to regularly image the entire Jovian giant. The colors of Jupiter being monitored go beyond the normal human visual range to include both ultraviolet and infrared light. Featured from 2017, Jupiter appears different in near ultraviolet light, partly because the amount of sunlight reflected back is distinct, giving differing cloud heights and latitudes discrepant brightnesses. In the near UV, Jupiter's poles appear relatively dark, as does its Great Red Spot and a smaller (optically) white oval to the right. The String of Pearl storms farther to the right, however, are brightest in near ultraviolet, and so here appear (false-color) pink. Jupiter's largest moon Ganymede appears on the upper left. Juno continues on its looping 53-day orbits around Jupiter, while Earth-orbiting Hubble is now recovering from the loss of a stabilizing gyroscope. 🔭 Do you love Jupiter ❤ Are you ready to explore Space 🔭 @theourspace  Image credit: NASA

Hey, 2 more days till the end of OPPO Beyond Your Vision photography contest. Have you submitted your image already? This was taken during my second trip to Mersing earlier this month with my Reno 10x Zoom. I was quite sick with food poisoning on my first night in Mersing but that didn't stop me from heading out to look for the beautiful stars. I've received quite a few people asking where and how to actually capture the milkyway there as some of them personally went to Mersing but didn't had any luck with the stars. Well, shooting the milkyway requires more than just equipment and skills. Sometimes it takes luck as well. You can't head over there without any planning beforehand. You need to plan your trip around the new moon phase and also with great weather without any clouds. It can take a lot of "research" to see if the weather is great for shooting astronomy. If you're interested to chase the milkyway, hit me up with a dm and hopefully I can try to organise a trip for you guys during my next hunt.
