One of the main entries to the beach Solastranden just outside Stavanger. -
This photo was taken at sunset in March and it was one of the first times I was at this beach since I got severely crippled by chronic pain in 2017. Even though it’s only 15 min drive from my home, I was in a bad enough shape for it to be a real hurdle to venture this far from home to do my swim or even just take a walk.
Only days after, there was the storm where I played in the big waves, which was an important breakthrough in my healing process, daring to leave the comfort zone of my familiar home base swimming bay where I had had my daily swims all winter. The photos from the adventure in the waves are found further down in my gallery. The water temp at the time was 5 C and the wind icy and strong, but I was extremely happy, all pain forgotten in a precious moment.
Slowly, step by step, I have since then pushed many barriers and healing is moving forward. It’s slower going than I had wished (patience not being one of my virtues) but at least the direction is right.
I am moving towards the light, although the path is crooked and not a straight line. And sometimes I fall off the path, but manage to get back up and on my way forward again. Where the path ends, I have no idea.
