Wanted to take a moment to support and inspire support for the Kickstarter campaign for a new book - Go Ahead Stop and Pee: Running During Pregnancy and Postpartum written by the great female Physical Therapists at Atlanta based @precisionpt_atl. After being open one week, the campaign is about 42%. LINK IN BIO.
One of the first things I noticed while pregnant is there is no consolidated national/intl guidelines on running while pregnant and returning to running post baby- no What to Expect when You’re an Expecting Runner.
Awareness of the importance of prenatal pelvic training and proper postnatal recovery to prevent and manage conditions like Musculoskeletal pain, diastasis recti, incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse (POP) 😱 is essential, but there is a huge knowledge gap. Though I asked repeatedly, my OB’s never said a single thing about any of those common but abnormal conditions, but rather stuck with generalities like “moderate exercise”....which means what to an ultra marathoner? 🤔
I am looking forward to this book (though it may be a bit too late for me!). Please share with others who may be interested. Oh, and this pic is stolen from the amazing @sassyfitgirl (follow for inspo). When looking for images of pregnant black women runners (because it is my page 🤷🏾♀️) the stock photo representation online was unshockingly non existent.
