PrEP is a great way to protect yourself from contracting HIV, if you’re HIV-negative.
If you are HIV-positive, taking your treatment every day can suppress the virus in your blood to the point at which it’s undetectable (generally after 6 months of correct and consistent use)- which means there’s no risk of transmitting it to your sexual partners. Talk to your doctor about your viral load, and what it means for your and your partner’s health.
How is PrEP different from anti-retroviral treatments (ART)? ART is a lifelong treatment you take if you’ve already contracted HIV to stop the virus from reproducing in the body, which keeps the virus from attacking the immune system. PrEP is a purely preventative treatment that you can go on and off based on your assessment of your personal risk. BOTH serve to prevent new HIV transmission when taken consistently and correctly. #prep #sex #gaysex #gayboys #gaybrasil #gayboy #grindr #gaysp #gaysf #boys #boyslove #dc #baltimore #nyc #gayhot #gaynyc #panera
