I am not a skinny girl and never have been but I do know how to dress my own unique Body Shape. Over the years, I have been described as athletic, big-boned, curvy, sporty, amazonian you name it! And I am cool with that...I am bigger than I was in my 20's, but of course I am, I'm older, curvier, wiser (hmmm maybe?!), birthed two beautiful babies, endured injuries, got the scars to tell the tale and I know who I am, what is important to me and what I won't tolerate. Skinny is absolutely great if you are healthy and happy, I have a friend who is and always has been very slender and she still struggles with self image and how her body has changed with age at times. And this is why I feel dressing for Body Shape is SO very important for every woman no matter your age or size. .
I work with so many women who feel disappointed or even angry about their bodies because they don't conform to what they see in the media...and I know this is gradually changing but considering it is 2019 I don't think it's anywhere good enough...yet. .
I am a size 12/14 and I don't feel I am represented at all by either my size or my age. It seems to be one extreme to another with traditional size 0 models to plus-size curvy girls which is amazing but I'd like to see us 'average' sized women represented. We are the fashion industries main clients making up over 74% (Gov.UK figures) of the UK population (sizes 12-16) so represent us! .
This is why I created my FREE Guide Dressing your Body Shape which really is only the tip of the iceberg but it will at least point you in the right direction of ignoring size and addressing YOUR shape. We are all unique and different so let's embrace that, do a happy dance and get on with our day! .
