🔑⭐️4 Ways to apply progressive overload: 👉🏼 Progressive overload is 🔑 for making progress (gains 💪🏼🏋🏻‍♀️). In order to make our body change (physique & capabilities) we need to give it a reason to. By pushing ourselves to do something more than we’ve done before, we’re asking the body to adapt to be able to cope with that stimulus in the future. Simply: Don’t expect new results without pushing yourself to do new things🙄🏋🏻‍♀️ . ⭐️ Increase the volume. Volume=sets x reps x weight. By increasing one of those variables you can increase your training volume. Sufficient training volume is a key driver for muscle hypertrophy (growth) ⭐️ Increase the intensity. This could be proximity to failure/training with heavier loads or running at a higher level ⭐️ Increase the density. ⏱Make rest periods shorter to make your body do the same amount of work in less time. ⭐️ Increase the time under tension. Once you’re confident with the weight, try slowing the reps down to increase the amount of time the muscles are working (also a kind of way to increase volume) . Working low-moderate percentages is usually not as fun or impressive as pushing big weights, but technique work is by far the most important aspect of lifting. It’s a seemingly never-ending, challenging journey that I absolutely love. I prefer to make multiple (mostly) pretty sub-maximal lifts than an ugly maximal lift to reinforce good movement patterns. . I’m currently not a competitive athlete, and there is a time and place to do so in training cycles and competition, but as a recreational lifter there is not much need to max out with the exception of establishing a set point for training percentages in a program. Even then, I haven’t done so in years, but had achieved multiple repetition PRs that helped me base my programming from, and it worked for me because at the end of the day, I just want to have fun and that’s what I’m doing 🙅🏻‍♀️. . . . . . . . . . . #train  #recovery  #olympiclifting  #fitfam  #cleanandjerk  #snatch  #girlswholift  #physicaltherapy  #workinprogress  #crunchtv  #crunchsouthtampa
