“Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
My soul yearns for you in the nightin the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.” Isaiah 26:8-9
The definition of DESIRE is to wish or long for, crave or want.
So right now think of the top 5 things you want more than anything in your life.
Is God number one on that list of yours? If not, then it may be time for a heart check.
In the society we live in today, we’ve inherited a nasty habit of putting ourselves first. We give ourselves false direction and false purpose when we throw around mottos like “YOLO” and “Do what makes YOU happy.” We’ve lost sight of who we are and why we were created in the first place.
We should position our hearts to chase after God the way that this verse describes.
We should DESIRE just His name and memory alone.
We should hunger for more of God so much so that our soul and spirit longs for Him day and night!
It’s so sad to see how backwards we have it today. We take care of everything we “need” to before we spend time with God...IF we have the time right?
You wanna know the truth? This may be why life seems so hard right now, this is why it feels overwhelming.
What do you think would happen if our entire focus, your number one priority was God? I honestly think that things would start falling into place.
When our hearts and minds are immersed in God and connected to Him, our perspective on the priorities of this life would change. The worldly things that we once found important, will no longer be a priority.
Instead of seeing a relationship with God as something that we need to have in order for our life to go smoothly, we should instead cherish and know how blessed we are to be able to have a personal, intimate relationship with our God!
