Steak Kebabs are the one of the best summer dinners! These are layered with juicy tender pieces of flavorful, marinated beef and colorful blend of tender veggies. . The perfect thing to make for the holiday. Credit @cookingclassy  Ingredients Marinade 1/4 c olive oil1/4 c soy sauce1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice1 1/2 tbsp red wine vinegar2 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce1 tbsp honey2 tsp Dijon1 tbsp garlic1 tsp freshly ground black pepper Kebabs 1 3/4 lbs sirloin steak (look for thicker steaks), cut into 1 1/4 inch pieces8 oz button or cremini mushrooms, halved (unless small, keep whole)3 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green, 1 yellow) cut into 1 1/4-inch pieces1 large red onion diced into chunks (about 1 1/4-inch)1 Tbsp olive oil, plus more for brushing grill gratesSalt and freshly ground black pepper1/2 tsp garlic powder10 wooden skewer sticks soaked in water for at least 30 minutes. Instructions For the marinade: In a mixing bowl whisk together all marinade ingredients. For the kebabs: place steak into a gallon size resealable bag. Pour marinade over steak then seal bag while pressing out excess air and message marinade over steak. Transfer to refrigerator and allow to marinate 3 - 6 hours. Preheat a grill over medium-high heat to about 425 degrees (partway through preheating clean grill grates if they aren't already clean). With veggies on cutting board, drizzle with oil and lightly toss to coat (I actually don't toss the onion because I like it to stay in chunks, when you thread the onion on layer in chunks about 2 - 3 slices so they don' t burn up). Sprinkle veggies evenly with garlic powder and season with salt and pepper. To assemble kebabs layer steak and veggies onto kebabs in desired order, work to fit 4 steak pieces onto each kebab (I like to layer 2 onion slices together). Brush grill grates lightly with oil. Place kebabs on grill and grill until center of steak registers about 140 - 145 degrees for medium doneness, turning kebabs occasionally, about 8 - 9 minutes. Did you know the low FODMAP diet has 3 phases? I love this graphic from @fodshopper  that helps break it down 🤗🤗 • • Phase 1: Elimination phase. This is typically what people talk about when they say they’re doing the low FODMAP diet. BUT it’s only meant to be a short elimination phase, typically only 2-6 weeks. You eliminate a lot of foods like garlic, onions, avocados, wheat, etc. It’s definitely tough but not impossible! • • Stage 2: Reintroduction or rechallenge phase: this is the phase most people don’t do correctly unfortunately. It requires a systematic reintroduction of the different FODMAP groups. This phase can take a few weeks to months depending on your symptoms. It’s important to do so you know what your triggers are! • • Stage 3: Liberalization or personalization phase. This is the fun part! You’re feeling better, you know what FODMAPs are triggers for you and you’re trying to get used to a new way of eating. It’s important to get to the phase so that you’re not RESTRICTING and missing out on fiber, nutrients, etc. • • • Ready to start the diet? Banana🍌 Chocolate Chip Muffins. Great recipe by @themealprepmanual  😄 . Gluten free, grain free, almost added sugar free (the chocolate chips have some). These are one of my favorite sweet treats to make. They are super easy and a great way to use up some old bananas 🍌 . . All you have to do to make these muffins is throw all the ingredients minus the chocolate chips in a blender and pour it in a muffin tin. Top with a few chocolate chips. Bake at 400F for 8 minutes. Each muffin has around 100 calories if you make 24 of them. A lot of these calories come from the peanut butter. You could certainly get creative and come up with some ways to reduce the amount of peanut butter if you are interested in being more calorie conscious. There are other nut/seed butters that are lower calorie but more expensive. . . Give these a try next time you have some bananas that are about to go bad. Make sure you understand that while these use healthier ingredients they are still very easy to overeat. You need to be cautious you stay within your goals. Because they are mini muffins, it is super easy to just pop them in your mouth mindlessly. Just because they use bananas and peanut butter as the main ingredients doesn’t make them “healthy”. Make sure you are aware of how these fit into your own personal equation of calorie balance!! . 🍏 G U T H E A L T H 🍏 . When it comes to gut health, we think about our digestive track. Which includes everything from your mouth => esophagus => stomach => intestines. Along the digestive track are 4 layers of cells. Each layer has a certain function, whether that is nutrient absorption, hormone production, muscle cell contraction, protective barriers, or nervous and immune system control. All of these functions contribute to how well our gut absorbs and moves food throughout our body. . How well our gut AND our immune system functions is dependent on what we put into our mouths. Did you know that 80% of the immune system is in the digestive track!? How many times a year are you battling a sickness? . A healthy gut comes from a diet rich in complex carbohydrates, fiber, vegetables, lean protein, healthy unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, and LOTS of water. . Poor gut health comes from a diet rich in trans and saturated fat, alcohol, fake sugars, diet soda, processed sugar, simple carbohydrates, fatty meats, etc. A diet that consists of this day in and day out DAMAGES the digestive track. . There are many symptoms that are associated with poor gut health and/or a gut motility disorder: heartburn, stomach pain, acid reflux, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. This one pan salmon and asparagus is so quick and easy to prepare and you'll have dinner on the table in 25 minutes!! The garlic-herb-lemon butter melts coating the salmon and asparagus with amazing flavor. You'll savor every bite! Great recipe by @natashaskitchen  😋 . Ingredients 1 1/2 to 2 lb salmon filet 2 bunches 2 lbs asparagus Salt and Black Pepper 1 Tbsp Olive Oil to drizzle asparagus 1/2 large lemon sliced into rings for garnish For the Flavored Butter: 6 Tbsp 85 grams* unsalted butter, softened 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice from 1/2 large lemon 2 garlic cloves pressed 2 Tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped, plus more to garnish 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp black pepper . Instructions Prep: Preheat oven to 450˚F with oven rack in top third of oven. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and trim paper so edges to fit the pan, otherwise it can char in the oven, especially when broiling. How to Make One-Pan Salmon and Asparagus: 1. In a small bowl, mash together all flavored butter ingredients, mashing and stirring until lemon juice is incorporated into butter then set aside. It takes a couple minutes but it will come together. 2. Place salmon filet skin-side-dow in the center of your baking pan. Rinse asparagus and break off fibrous ends by holding the base end and breaking it wherever it snaps. Arrange asparagus around salmon, drizzle asparagus lightly with olive oil. Roll asparagus to coat lightly in oil and sprinkle both asparagus and salmon with salt and pepper. 3. Spoon and spread 3/4 of butter mixture over salmon. Dot asparagus with remaining herb butter. Scatter with slices of lemon and bake at 450˚F for 10-12 mins (smaller 1 1/2 lb thinner fillet will take 10 min and a larger 2 lb fillet will take 12 min), then turn the oven to Broil on High and broil 2-3 minutes to give the salmon a golden glow. Guess what 🙋🏼‍♀️👏🏻🤰🏼 - I’m still in a lot of pain and looking pregnant BUT I’ve found a breakfast I actually look forward to 👏🏻#priorities . - I’m not going to lie - as a foodie, and someone who has worked damn hard to improve their relationship with food over YEARS, being told I have to cut out gluten, dairy, eggs, peanut butter and go low FODMAP has been a slap in the face. - If I wasn’t so uncomfortable and desperate for relief from my symptoms I definitely wouldn’t ever want to be this restrictive - but for now I need to follow these protocols, be patient, see it as a new way to challenge myself and how far I’ve come, and get creative with my food in the meantime. - Shout out to @anthea_soz  for inspiring this delicious creamy, satisfying and sweet recipe 🥰 - SALTED CARAMEL BANANA RICE PUDDING (V, GF, DAIRY FREE) - Serves : 4 - Ingredients: ▪️125g steamed jasmine rice ▪️50g @happywayau  vanilla pea protein (use whey protein if desired but note it will make it runny/sticky) ▪️100g coconut or Greek yoghurt ▪️100g mashed banana ▪️30g Salted Banana Caramel Better Being Blend or other less fun inclusions: cinnamon, nuts, raisins. ▪️200ml water or milk - Method: 1. Pour rice into a large mixing bowl 2. Add mashed banana, yoghurt, protein powder and Blend. Stir well to combine. 3. Pour in water/milk, stir well and place the bowl in a microwave. Cook on high heat for 2 minutes (or cook on stove top!) 4. Allow to sit for at least one hour to soak and fluff up. 5. Transfer to 4 serving bowls/jars/mugs! I think you can not even call it a salad if tomatoes are not in it. ⠀ ⠀ What do you think?⠀ ⠀ Not only are tomatoes a great when it comes to tasty summer salats but they are also a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin K. ⠀ ⠀ Tomatoes are also considered a high-antioxidant food and one of the best sources of the phytonutrient called lycopene in the world.⠀ ⠀ Lycopene found in tomato nutrition has well-researched beneficial effects when it comes to stalling cancerous tumor growth, boosting immunity has a natural anti-inflammatory effect.⠀ ⠀ Additionally, tomatoes supply many other forms of antioxidants and a wide range of vitamins and minerals like potassium and phosphorus.⠀ ⠀ So lets eat more of this delicious vegetable and give our bodies a natural boost of essential nutrition.⠀ ⠀ Here is the recipe to my refreshing tomato salad. It’s one of my favourites! ⠀ 🍅🍅🍅 INGREDIENTS⠀ ⠀ 4-5 tomatoes⠀ 1 can of chickpeas⠀ 1 small red onion⠀ a small handful of parsley⠀ 1 tbsp of balsamic vinegar⠀ 2 tbsp of olive oil⠀ salt& pepper⠀ optional: serve with hummus on the side⠀ 🍅🍅🍅 DIRECTIONS ⠀ ⠀ 1. Chop tomatoes into small squares and add finely diced red onion and parsley to the salad. ⠀ ⠀ 2. Remove chickpeas from the can and wash until water runs clear. Add to the salad. ⠀ ⠀ 3. For the dressing mix balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper together and drizzle over the salad.⠀ ⠀ 4. Mix all the ingredients together and serve on toasted sourdough bread and hummus on the side. Enjoy 🍅🍅🍅

This isn’t a pile of birdseed. It’s granola and it’s so delicious. Inspired by @sannevloet  I decided to try making granola with puffed rice, puffed millet and sliced almonds. Coconut oil, a bit of maple syrup (she used honey but I didn’t have any), some vanilla extract (I used it in everything), turmeric, pink salt and I also added some cinnamon because it makes everything better. :) it’s fragrant, crunchy and perfect for going with yogurt and fruit. It probably won’t make me look like a #supermodel  with gorgeous skin though...but a girl can dream right? 😜😍

With themselves and with others. How often do you challenge your habits? Your thoughts about others, your beliefs, yourself? How often do you find resistance to change and decide to go through it, instead of avoiding it? Distracting yourself through your phone or TV or excess commitments in order to avoid these conversations with yourself... What I’ve found in the past few years in this line of work is that most people who come to me have practiced being comfortable. They have avoided/distracted/soothed to keep the dissonance at bay. I was recently around someone who was bonafide addicted to their phone. Couldn’t not check FB or pick it up every 5-7 mins. And it was sad cause I’m sure they have denied this reality to themselves enough that they aren’t even aware the conversation is one they need to have with themselves. They were missing genuine connection with those around them due to their addition to that screen. Yet you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge...so, what’s your comfort zone(s)? You don’t need to tell anyone about it but, in order to grow and realize your potential, you at least gotta have these conversations with yourself. And when you find what makes you squirm...what is really tough for you to see as part of you...don’t judge yourself for it. Just...acknowledge it. That’s the first step to accepting and then taking the steps to change that pattern.

You don’t have “allergies". Your histamine bucket is just full. . . Hands down the biggest health challenge that I have worked on overcoming for the past two decades has been getting to the root of chronic allergies, sinusitis, and sneezing fits. At times, entire *years* went by where I didn’t feel a single day of relief without masking the symptoms with Sudafed, Benadryl, and panoply of prescription sinus sprays. . . And I’m talking *debilitating* allergic reactions to the point where interacting with other human beings was impossible without constant frustration, mental agitation, severe brain fog, and outright embarrassment. . . I only wish that someone had explained to me what I had to discover on my own through years of trial-and-error. And that is this: there are at least a DOZEN factors that contribute to MCAS, histamine intolerance, or what would generally be self-diagnosed as “seasonal allergies”. In many cases, having “allergies” is just B.S. catch-all that is used to help you provide a framework of understanding, yet rarely describes what’s really going on under the hood. . . Consider for example, that any kind of inflammation to the epithelial cells of the gut lining will results in an increase in EOS, mast cells, and histamine. What that means is that *any* kind of gut-dwelling pathogen - yeast, parasites, dysbiosis, etc. - can drive up the allergic response. . . To further complicate matters, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) tends to inhibit diamine oxidase (DAO) - the enzyme that under normal healthy conditions serves to breakdown histamine. . . From a genetic perspective, several methylation dependent genes require a healthy supply of methyl donors to adequately breakdown histamine. So if you’re under-methylating, you’re likely to have issues breaking down histamine (especially problematic in MTHFR types). . . The larger theme here is that MULTIPLE factors can lead one to develop a chronic allergy response. There is no one single root cause. What ultimately helped me to get my life back was to reduce the overall histamine “load” by eradicating pathogens in the gut, eating for my genetics, balancing hormones, and detoxing from mold.

The last few weeks I've done something for me. I've changed my diet and have gone 90% to a plant based diet. I tried it in the past, felt great, but old habits came back. Not this time! So this is something I find confronting I’m so paranoid about my face! Want to know why!? In photos you can hide your body well face not so much. Yeah sure their our selfies and angles to make you seem slimmer, however if you take a proper photo you will see any flaws! This is 3 weeks difference side view. I always loose first on my face and bum! I can’t tell as much on my body although scales and measurements are going down. But I’m happy it’s some progress. I have a very long journey ahead but small progresses like this make me proud! I have been so consistent and determined that I don’t know know any other way now!

I have done this before and then I got scared and embarrassed to share my story..... however I have amazing support around me and this is my journey. My name is Anastasia, I am 29 years old and I am Greek. I am 4 foot 11 and weigh over 100 kilos. I have been with my fiancé for over 10 years and have been engaged for 4. We are getting married in 2021 and I can’t wait! I normally am known to my family as the softy and the worrier. I am changing! I do not care anymore about what anyone thinks of me or what my life is. I’m real and I’m human. I have many imperfections BUT I’m so close to God that I don’t care. It has been over 8 years now my life changed dramatically. I won’t get into detail but a simple misdiagnosis for years ruined part of my life. I have Endometriosis, chronic gastritis, ibs, liver issues, severe anxiety and obesity. I also carry the thalassemia trait. I have miscarried numerous times after medical professionals encouraged me to conceive so I could have a historectomy. I was damaged from a lot of medications such as aspirin, penicillin injections and a gardasil injection. I gained over 50 kilos after I fell really sick. I can’t say all of the weight was from these ailments but doctors and holistic professionals have done blood tests and an autoimmune disease is the cause for most of my weight gain. A lot of it was also bad food choices and overeating. I don’t think people understand what it’s like to live with a chronic disease or diseases if they haven’t gone through it themselves. I don’t want any sympathy I want understanding and I want this journey of mine to maybe help someone else. I have invested money and sleepless nights trying to be okay. From emergency runs to hospital because I’m bleeding excessively or a huge panic attack. I have undergone so many tests and procedures. Once I am starting to keep on top of one issue another one would come on. It’s just draining. I have my specialists and GP that take care of my diagnosis for and keep an eye on my progress. BUT I have decided to go down a holistic pathway and a gut program to try and heal my issues. I can’t be cured but I can live a life with more quality. I can do this!

Here’s what I want you to know. You can begin to trust yourself AND you need to know what’s going on with your body metabolically to succeed. It’s both a mindset shift and a hormonal/metabolic shift. . 🌟Metabolically: your Leptin levels are thrown off. Which is why your eating isn’t all about “willpower.” Leptin is carried by your bloodstream to your brain and sends a signal of how much and when you should eat. . 99.9% of the time this signal gets disrupted when you’re dieting. Your brain 🧠 thinks you’re starving when you might not be. You might already have enough energy stored post show which can feel super confusing. . ⭐️Your thyroid can take a hit since it’s responsible for your metabolism and how quickly you burn calories. I often see my clients thyroid take a massive hit after extreme dieting and exercise. . If you’ve suddenly gained weight and you’re not sure why, I encourage you to check your thyroid.
