A message to the and athletes from former Futures athlete and 2012 Olympian Katie Reinprecht: "Congratulations on making it to the 2013 National Futures Championship. This tournament stands as the culmination of all the time and effort you’ve invested over the years to the sport of field hockey. You should be very proud of this accomplishment!
Remember the basic principles that have led you to this point – hard work, dedication, love of competition, and commitment to your teammates. While these principles may seem very basic, they are the very same principles that are necessary even at the most elite level of competition. While the speed of the game and the level of skill will continue to intensify as you advance in the sport – those elements of the game will remain constant! Build on your foundation.
Virtually every athlete that has played or is playing on the Women’s National Team has competed in the National Futures Tournament. We remember the Virginia Beach heat, the competitive nature of the games, and most importantly, the incredible memories we made with our friends playing the sport we love.
Enjoy this experience – have fun with your friends and family, and remember, apply those principles in the right way and you too could one day be writing to the next generation of Futures athletes!
Good luck and GO USA!" Cool!
