Why what you say matters👇🏼
It was 9 AM on a Sunday, and I just got to my restaurant job. I worked the night before until 2 AM. A customer came in, I took his order, and in the middle of it, I yawned.
He immediately scoffed and was like "Did you stay out all night partying? You shouldn't be yawning when taking orders."
I was blown away. As someone who worked ALL THE TIME to pay for my engineering degree + rent + bills, it made me feel like I didn't deserve to hear that. This dude had no idea what I was going through.
In reality, I worked 30-40 hours a week + was enrolled full time in engineering classes. I also maintained a 3.6+ GPA my entire engineering degree.
I remember what he said 6 YEARS later. Your words matter. Before you make an assumption, judge, or put someone down, remember that he/she could remember that for the rest of their life. How you want to be remembered?
Try to be accepting, until proven otherwise. Be tolerant as you never know what sacrifices someone has to make on a daily basis to continue making life work.
Support each other and everyone grows together. That's what I'm about. Hbu?
