It’s finally Saturday guys!! I am so enjoying it. The work is busy lately and I am struggling also with a small back injury, so I am taking the whole weekend off and resisting on the couch 🛋😍🤗 And there is no better start into the lazy day than this delicious breakfast 🌿🤩 One hard boiled egg, white Russian quark cheese, greens with tomato, avocado sprinkled with chili flakes and fruits: raspberries and blueberries 😍🔝 I really love this Russian quark ♥️ It’s full of protein and it always reminds me my childhood (my grandma used to prepare it at home back in time) 🤗 I eat it savory or sweet way depending on my mood. When training, there are many different changes that occur. All of these changes can play a role in the increase in strength, endurance and resiliency of your body. . . When it comes to the brain, adaptations include changes and what we call Central Drive. Central Drive is essentially how much of a discharge the brain releases to the neurons involved in the movement. The brain also plays a role in coordination in synchronization of the muscles that are involved. As you become more proficient at a movement, the muscles that are working become orchestrated in a manner that allows for the most efficient form of movement. . . When it comes to the neurons involved in movement that directly innervate the muscle, there are many different changes that occur as well. Some of these changes involve an increase in firing rate, conduction velocity, and rate coding. The larger neurons, which innervate the bigger muscle fibers, become easier to recruit and utilize during movement. . . What we most often see, are the changes in tissue. This involves muscle hypertrophy, and fibers increase in size. However, there are many more changes that occur in the tissue as well. There are structural changes that occur in the tendinous, ligamentous and fascial tissue. These tissues increase the structural support , as well as the contractile properties. Block 5 Week 4 session 3 (test) Warm up: 2-3 min Leg swings front-back, side-to-side, hip rotations in and out, ankle mobility drill and half kneeling archer mobility drill, front and back scorpions. The main training: 1. Squats 20kg/10 60kg/5 100kg/5 140kg/1 170kg/2+1eccentric (today I felt I had a third rep but I allowed my hips to rise too fast which resulted in me dumping the bar, this time I had much more control on the eccentric portion of the lift compared to last block, it’s coming sleeves on 140kg and belt and sleeves on the last set) 2. Bench press 20kg/10 60kg/5 80kg/3 100 kg/1125kg/2 (today the bench was good finally I added that second rep and I had one eccentric more but decided not to go for it, belt for last set) 3. Recent research has raised concerns that the use of devices such as MyFitnessPal may enhance traits of perfectionistic, obsessive & dichotomous thinking towards weight, calories, & macronutrients in some people (Simpson & Mazzeo 2017). These traits are described by Arwa Mahdawi as ‘techorexia’. Furthermore, it’s been suggested that MyFitnessPal may be a way for users to quantify their self-worth & as a result, scrutinize their body weight, dietary & exercise habits (Simpson & Mazzeo 2017). With this in mind, Levinson, Fewell, & Brosof (2017) assessed the usage of MyFitnessPal in 105 (n=102 females) individuals diagnosed with an eating disorder & assessed whether subjects thought the device contributed to their eating disorder & if so, which symptoms related to their eating disorder were associated. 78 out of the 105 subjects reported using MyFitnessPal to track their calories with 73.1% reporting that the app contributed in some capacity to their eating disorder & 30.3% highlighting that the app ‘very much’ contributed to their eating disorder. 17.9% of MyFitnesspal users reported that the app had no influence on their eating disorder. In addition, subjects who reported that MyFitnessPal was a likely contributor to their eating disorder, also showed a higher tendency for restraint, body shape, & weight concerns. Before using a calorie and/or weight tracking app within your Personal Training Business, make sure you consider the personality of each respective client you are advising. Do they exhibit tendencies towards overly obsessive ‘target-focused’ performance or perfectionistic thinking? If so, then devices that focus on number crunching towards ‘goals’ may be best avoided. Furthermore, make sure to talk to the client about previous experiences related to nutrition and fitness if the aforementioned traits are indicated, be sure to recommend & implement other less ‘number-focused’ strategies that would be more appropriate for achieving their results. . . . . . . . Conventional or Sumo? That’s the question for now. I made the switch to sumo about 18 months ago but due to injuries suffered outside of the gym I couldn’t deadlift much at all.
