Maison Margiela is known for its deconstructing and reworking of various things such as furniture, clothes, socks, and more Martin Margiela used to sell these pieces as one of one or one of few pieces, as his brand grew it became unsustainable to do this, making way for the 2006 “artisanal” collection. (Shown in the first four images) This collection was shown during the couture season and deconstructed a whole lot of antique furniture and signage to create garments of high technical quality and intrigue. It was a response to what couture houses do without following the conventions of couture basically deconstructing couture as Margiela would deconstruct anything else.
Margiela now helmed by John Galliano continues the tradition of the “artisanal” collection with the latest collection deconstructing trousers to dresses, jackets, skirts, and more.
As a part of the couture season Maison Margiela intends to show what it can do and the ability of its house or studio through this sustainable, genius innovation of a collection.
