I was a normal cheerleader that loved to tumble and stunt. Around May of 2017 i started to have pain in my left foot, only a little at first but it gradually got worse. The pain got very bad and i had basically lost all motion in my foot, it would only move a little bit each side. I went to a doctor and they told me it was sprained but i couldn’t walk on it at all without heaps of pain so i was put in a moonboot. I was in and out of a moonboot, my foot would start hurting again shortly after i was taken out of it. I finally went to see a specialist and they wanted me to have an MRI as nothing was showing up on x-rays. The specialist said that i had a bone defect, basically two bones in my foot were connected together when actually they were meant to be two seperate pieces. some people with this condition are able to live with it, no pain, but mine unfortunately was too bad and it was decided i had surgery. On the 11th December 2017 I went to starship hospital to hve my surgery. surgery went great and i was on my way to recovery. i hated not being able to do anything and i was very down and upset as it seemed to be taking forever. After many physio appointments i slowly started to walk and finally got back into cheer. I am now tumbling and cheering completely pain free and have even achieved my goal of getting into the new zealand development team!! even tho it felt like i would never make it here i made it in the end and i was to thank my amazing and supportive family, my friends, the nice staff that have helped me with anything, my coachs and everyone else who helped me through this 💗💗 never ever give up!!!
