Rotator Cuff Strengthening ——- I personally believe the rotator cuff is a commonly neglected muscle group. People don’t do isolated rotator cuff exercises enough and from a prehab standpoint, can really help with keeping the shoulder strong and reducing shoulder injuries. I think overhead athletes in particular should regularly be incorporating rotator cuff exercises. ——- There are many ways to hit the external rotators but I’m a fan of using the side lying rotation. I believe it’s one of the best ways to isolate the external rotators. This exercise can be modified in many ways beyond just simply using a dumbbell. Here are three variations, all are challenging in their own way. All videos are sped up. 1️⃣ Side lying external rotation ball toss - this is more dynamic as he has to catch and slow down the ball. I typically do this for time and I added some manual resistance at the end. 2️⃣ Side lying external rotation - the commonly used version but I like adding manual resistance for an additional challenge. I will also have them hold at the top to focus on end range strengthening. 3️⃣ Side lying external rotation with band - the band is another variation of an added challenge as he has to fight against the weight and band, both conventionally and eccentrically. ——- 🙌🏼Tag someone who could use these exercises! 👍 Like and save if you found it helpful! 🤷🏼‍♂️ Post questions or comments below!👇

🤙 Squat Mobility 🤘 If you want to improve your mobility at the bottom of a squat you have to spend sometime in a similar position. Try the following drills above. Remember to drive your knee outward especially for extension based athletes (hockey, rugby, football) so you allow your hips to open up. If you physically run out of anatomy your range has to come from the low back (I.e. butt wink). This isn’t a problem in the un-injured athlete but if someone has some back pain it should help. ⭐️LOW BACK PAIN BELIEFS⭐️ by @healyourpain_  graphic and body by @dr.caleb.burgess  - 📌 In 2014, a study by Darlow et al was published in BMJ Open. The study looked at beliefs of back pain in New-Zealand citizens above 18 years of age - 📊 602 valid responses were received. Although not all of them had back pain at the moment (27%, which is still a substantial amount), 87% had experienced it at least once in their lives - ⁉️ 34 questions were asked. Brain Health and Baseline Testing •••••••••••••••••••••••• Awareness of CTE and the potential long term ramifications of head impact is a growing concerning for contact sports. How does an athlete know when they have suffered too much head trauma? . Baseline EEG testing. . These tests are critical for contact athletes, specifically for combat athletes. This gives the athlete objective data on how well their brain is functioning. . Baseline EEG tests have three functions specifically related to combat sports: 1️⃣Identifying Concussions: Assuming an athlete has a baseline EEG exam for comparison, on a follow up test there will be markers that may indicate if an athlete indeed had a concussion or not. 2️⃣Return to Sport: Concussion symptoms may last up to 8 days but for the alteration in brain chemistry to normalize can take up to 30 days. If an athlete returns to training too early, such as when symptoms stop but before brain chemistry normalizes, and they suffer another concussion it will have an additive effect. If an athlete returns at the appropriate time a second concussion would act as a second incident. With baseline EEG an athlete will have objective data on when their brain chemistry normalizes so they can return at the correct time. 3️⃣Long term brain health: Veteran fighter’s will have a much larger exposure to repetitive head trauma. With baseline testing you can track any trends that may indicate deterioration of long term brain health. . Where can you get baseline brain scans? @wavimedical  . Wavi is a portable helmet that can test brain function is 20 minutes. This EEG testing would be a great addition to current concussion testing to help make the best decision regarding an athlete’s brain health. . Dzięki temu powięź jawi nam się jako ,,jedna wspólna sieć, która jest w stanie przenosić napięcie, a której układ i gęstość są uzależnione od lokalnych zadań przez nią pełnionych". ✳Pischinger przedstawia powięź jako strukturę, która tworzy największy układ występujący w obrębie ciała ludzkiego a jednocześnie jako system, który jako jedyny ma bezpośredni kontakt ze wszystkimi pozostałymi układami tworzącymi organizm. ,,Jak to się dzieje, że organizm działa jako jedna całość". Pascard (2006) ✳Na to pytanie odpowie nam współczesna, holistyczna terapia manualna, gdzie stopniowo coraz szerzej poznajemy całą historię dolegliwości pacjenta, obserwujemy różnorodne przejawy komprensacji jego funkcji. System połączonych ze sobą włókien, które tworzą powięzi, ma zdolność adaptacji zarówno do lokalnie, ale także globalnie pojawiających się obciążeń. ✳Powięź jest rodzajem fundamentu, z którego zbudowane jest ciało przy czym nie jest ubraniem pokrywającym korpus, ale raczej tkaniną. Inne tkanki takie jak mięśnie, kości, wątroba i płuca oraz przewód pokarmowy, układ moczowy, 🧠 i układ wewnątrzwydzielniczy są niejako zatopione w powięzi. 💥Following up on my last post about hamstring rehab💥⁣ ⁣ 🔹The goal of PT should be to gradually progress and expose the muscle to more advanced exercises. Once the tissue has calmed down a bit, we should begin to progress to more advanced exercises. ⁣ ⁣ ▪️We want to make sure we are challenging the tissue and some pain during rehab is OK and does not mean we are re-injuring the muscle. Studies have shown that allowing some pain during rehab has had better long-term effects & lower re-tear rates. ⁣ ⁣ 🔹Remember, everyone’s rehab will look different and will progress at different rates— These are 2 of my favorite hamstring exercises to implement after isometrics. ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣SL RDLS⁣ 2️⃣HS Curls with eccentric focus⁣ ⁣ ▪️Your rehab plan should also work back into running/sprinting, cutting, jumping, etc to make sure the athlete is ready to meet the demands of their sports.
