What does a healthy relationship with exercise “look” like? 👇
Yesterday I had THE PLEASURE of joining @womensstudio with @lifestylesports to break in the new Nike #MetCon5 (which is amazing btw) for a killer class. 2 years ago, I would have exercised before this class so I got “my exercise” in... “just incase” it wouldn’t be “enough”. 🤦♀️
So I wanted to share with you, what TODAY a healthy relationship with fitness looks like to me. ❤️ What I believe it should look like, for most, I hope it helps someone out there 😘
1️⃣ It doesn’t “look” like anything. Physically. It looks different on everyBODY. It doesn’t look like a big bum, a tiny waist & a 6 pack - that much I know.
2️⃣ An understanding that it doesn’t always need to leave you utterly dead, sweat drenched, and in true pain. A little soreness, some tough workouts, some easy. Some days, none at all.
3️⃣ It includes rest days. UNEXPECTED ONES. Like me today, I brought gym gear with me but here I am sipping my latte writing this post and heading out for dinner tonight.
4️⃣ It doesn’t equate the amount of exercise to amount of food we are allowed. Ever. You don’t need to earn food.
5️⃣ It includes flexibility. Maybe today you’ll squat, tomorrow you want to run, rest all weekend or hike all next week. Rigid programmes leave no room for living.
6️⃣ It is not forcing yourself through exercise you hate - like bodybuilding splits for me. I don’t care if it’s leg day, maybe I want to do yoga today.
7️⃣ It’s on my terms, my true terms, not a voice in my head, or an influence from my social media feed.
8️⃣ It’s solo some days but often SOCIAL. It’s being open to & excited for group training, support, new classes and teaching/creating these myself.
9️⃣ It’s to empower me. NOT to shrink me.
You cannot be happy at the destination, if you are not happy on the journey, remember this, and take some steps to ensure you are happy every step of the way 🌸
On a high after yesterday’s class, and ready for a girly night tonight 💃🏼 Happy Friday Junior Peeps 🤩
