It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.– Lena Horne And that’s a wrap on Week One of August orientation and training weeks...2 more to go! Today I got to spend time with the wonderful Knights @sunygeneseo thinking with first year students about how they can cultivate an inclusive community on campus. That’s one half of the whole class of 2023 that I got to speak to today! This week,I made my way to @mtholyoke , @nyustern , @harvardlaw , @batescollege and here to Geneseo this week and have enjoyed each conversation, insight, and challenging moment. During these kind of weeks of travel and facilitation, there is no doubt that I get a little tired, but I’ve done a lot of work to carry and hold conversations about oppression and equity in a particular way...and that makes all the difference. Continuing to do my own work while I facilitate others in it keeps me present to the moment and clear to receive my intuition while facilitating. Dealing with my own assumptions and internalized subordination and dominance keeps me open to working with it when it shows up in others’. Tuesday, I will dive into Week Two, but for now...I will rest.
