The sevengill cowshark (Notorynchus cepedianus) is a prehistoric looking fella. They look very different from their bigger relatives, the white sharks, but their diets are very similar. However, the sevengills are higher ranked in the food chain, with a trophic level of 4.9 compared to 4.5 for the white sharks. So even though not as majestic, they are the kings in the False Bay ecosystem.... Ignoring the occasional orcas which also munch on the slow sevengills.
