🛌😴 𝑾𝑯𝑨𝑻 𝑯𝑬𝑳𝑷𝑺 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑺𝑳𝑬𝑬𝑷?? 😴🛌 - Sleep, it’s something we do every single day. Yet, most of don’t know to properly do it. Why? Because nobody ever taught you how to do it.. - To get the most out of your 7-8-9 hours (that’s how much you should be getting) you want to be setting yourself up for a solid night’s of sleep, during the day. Sounds weird right? But it’s true! - No caffeine after 3-4 PM, you don’t want to have caffeine in your system when you go to sleep. That’ll impair sleep quality. Just as having a lot of food to digest. Don’t eat a big meal 2-3 hours before bed. - Don’t drink late either, this might wake you up because you have to pee. And TRY to not have to train late at night. Training late at night will impair sleep quality. - Plan your next day so you know exactly what you’ll be doing and you don’t hit your bed thinking about a gazillion things. This one is HUGE. - Keep your room cold. This will help you. You’ll thank me later. Block out screens (or use f.lux) to block out blue light, this will mess with your biological clock. Blacking out your room will massively help you. - And lastly, studies have shown that human beings have the best sleep between 10pm and 2pm. The other night I had a sudden bout of anxiety and knew that it was going to be hard to fall asleep. So I did what I always do- I turned to my oils to find a magic mix to help me feel calmer and get needed sleep I happened to chose these three oils and added two drops each to a veggie capsule. I slept SO good, seriously like a baby right from the womb 😂 I tried it the subsequent few nights and again pure blissful sleep! HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A SLEEP SNACK? It's not really a power nap and it's not something to eat either It's actually nourishment and energy that come from the inside! Food nourishes us from the outside in but we can also nourish ourselves from the inside out. Resting (and sleeping) are two of those inner sources of nutrition. This will avoid that nap hangover that no mumpreneur wants for the second half of her day and may even leave you feeling more awake than when you woke up this morning. Here’s how you indulge in a sleep snack. It starts at any point in the morning or afternoon when you feel like you would love to stop for a massage, a nap or a walk outside or something else that feels really relaxing but you would normally push yourself to keep going. Allow yourself to consciously stop what you are doing and lie down. Then let yourself melt into a yoga mat, a couch or the bed. Let go of all the tension your body was holding during your daytime activities. Allow yourself a deep sigh of relief. Stay mindful and conscious of just letting go so that you don’t actually fall asleep. Notice all of the areas in your body, mind and heart that are able to release any tension. About 5 minutes later when all these areas feel refreshed and revitalized, you can slowly sit up, take some deep breaths, possibly set a new intention for the rest of the day and get to it. The three most transformative and re-energizing parts of the sleep snack are the moment when you stop what you are "doing" to get things "done" and step into “being”, how you protect yourself from any guilt or shame that may show up and when you lie down, let go and feel the release of all the pressures of the day. This practice should open abundant energy for the rest of your day by the simple act of stopping and holding space for these much-needed moments of acknowledgment, self-love and restoration.
