Since I’ve been getting a lot of questions in my stories I thought I’d just answer everyone here! It seems not many people knew about Friday Harbour so glad I shared!
It’s around 10 minutes from Barrie and an hour from Toronto (in Innisfil, Ontario). Many people were docking their boats from all over Lake Simcoe to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the boardwalk, which was awesome to watch.
There is a restaurant called @fishbonerestaurants and it serves mostly seafood (I believe you need reservations). We ate at the food truck (burgers, beef hot dogs, poutine, etc). They accept credit card for purchases >$10. Other restaurants are available for homeowners only (as are some other facilities in the resort such as the splash pad/swimming pool). There’s a Starbucks open to the public, which is by far the largest one I’ve ever been in! More restaurants opening soon. There’s also a grocery store if you want ice cream or if you forgot something.
Keep in mind, there’s still construction going on as this is fairly new. There’s much more to come including a hotel!
For kids, there is a play ground and a mini beach to play and swim in. There are a lot of zebra mussels so definitely recommend bringing water shoes. There is an oversized chess board and checkers game to play on the beach as well. Bring a volleyball if you want to play and lawn chairs as there’s barely any seating on the beach. There are showers near the washrooms at the beach.
There is a large parking area for cars, which is currently free. The washrooms are clean and the whole resort is maintained impeccably. There’s a shuttle to help drive you around, look out for a seating area that resembles a bus stop.
There was live entertainment and apparently they have fireworks on some nights so that would be nice to watch! I’ve seen many places available through Airbnb if you’re interested in sleeping over as well.
