MAY YOU SLEEP WELL TOO - Nandini Kamat (@nandini_kamat_kunde )
In a constant debate with the new and the old, I have realised that at the end of the day, we are all looking for peace, and comfort, and sound sleep... well mostly sleep.
Take for example, the old worn out extra large freshly washed T-shirt, has hugged me more often than the new dress kept for a special occasion.
The t-shirt, with a faded picture has guaranteed that I will sleep comfortably, not too hot and not too cold. The new dress has made me happy albeit for a few fleeting moments, until I came home and changed into the said T-shirt.
Then there are the few spoonfuls of a leftover curry scraped from the bottom of the pan, giving me the warm and fuzzy feeling after a fabulous night of trying out new cuisine with new friends.
An old recipe, long forgotten, yet a new technique to invite the much needed sleep.
Maybe we all need the new, mixed with a little bit of old
Not that new things aren’t exciting... they get the heart going faster
Like the first spell of rains, always better with the good old tea in a new cup.
Like the smell of a new diary, with fresh paper, made better with an old ink pen, writing about, well someone we once knew..
So at the end of the day I have realised that we are looking for peace, comfort, and sleep, but also familiarity.
Familiar old love
That we seek
In new things
In new people.
