What we tried: The Açai Bowl (there is only one option)
Disappointing. The smoothie was watery and lacked flavour, not a hint of fruit- just tasted like ice and basically nothing. The toppings included bee pollen (tasteless) homemade granola (added a needed extra layer of crunch texture), seeds (hard to chew), cacao nibs (very bitter), and a few slices of banana (only sweetener that made finishing the bowl possible). Overall, the bowl lacked toppings, which could have made up for the smoothie base that fell short. For the price, it isn’t worth it unless you are willing to sacrifice taste for all natural and organic ingredients.
Store atmosphere: The location is very accessible, a short walk or quick bus ride from St Clair or Rosedale station. However, since the restaurant is located at the basement level, there is only one outdoor table with two chairs. The indoor seating includes two large counters with a few stools, but it is a quite depressing room that lacks vibrancy, even though the bright decor and colours try to make up for it. It was a very nice day, so we took our açai bowls to go and sit elsewhere further up the street.
Extras: All organic ingredients, uses in house nut milk blend, takes cash
Overall rating: 3/10 ~ Felt like eating bird seeds
