I have clients ask me all the time if shiplap is too trendy, and if they should avoid installing it in their homes if it is going out of style. I think we can all agree that shiplap has had a whole lot more than its 15 seconds of fame, but it's far from going out of style!
It rose in popularity so much because of the lovely @joannagaines ' obsession with it (which I totally share, by the way 😍) but it's not a new thing! In fact, for those of you who have installed it in your home, you've likely installed tongue + groove paneling. They essentially look the same, but true shiplap has a lip on it that helps provide more water protection. It doesn't make a big difference when we are applying it to interior walls, so whatever you want to call it, just know that it has already been around for a long time!
All that to say that I love the texture that it can give to a space. In this room in particular, it helped create a more unified look to a wall that was broken up with so many weird ceiling lines. If it's used thoughtfully, it will always have a space and feel timeless!
