In case you don't know, I work at Xcel Energy, a gas & electric company. I'm based out of St. Paul, MN but my duties are present in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, & New Mexico. •
Majority of my job consists of managing large and multi year projects with companies like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and hundreds of other carriers in providing you internet, cable, phone and sufficient data bandwidth either to your home or even when you're walking down the street. These companies utilize our assets and pole structures which have to be engineered and built in accordance to various standards and regulations, in a safe and reliable manner for those working on or near the poles, as well as for you when you drive or are walking underneath them.
Majority of my family, friends and even most co-workers are somewhat unaware of what my line of work is, heck, I had never heard or even thought of this type of work before I landed here. I'm still not really sure how I did, as a Finance degree didn't really provide much on the topic😂😂
Though some days are really tough and challenging, I can't deny the amount I have learned. I have been stretched (and stressed), to focus on how we can work smarter (not harder), and to think out of the box and become a leader. Every day is different in this industry, and every day I'm challenged to learn more in areas of work I've never thought of. I'm thankful for the opportunities it has provided me to experience, working here at @xcelenergy
