THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING VEGAN IS: ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⬜️ Getting enough protein ☑️ Dealing with questions about getting enough protein ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Seriously, when was the last time you heard about a vegan who was admitted to hospital due to protein deficiency? Assuming they weren’t excessively restricting calories or dealing with an eating disorder the answer will be... never. Now compare this with the millions of people who are killed each year by diseases resulting from eating too MANY animal products. Which do you think should be your biggest concern? 🤷‍♂️ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ The nutrition guidelines in Europe and North America recommend a protein intake of 0.8g per KG of bodyweight for the average sedentary person. For building muscle you can go up to 1.4 - 1.6g per KG, but all the research shows that you really don’t need any more than that. All of this is perfectly possible on a plant based diet providing you eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains! Raw banoffee fudge bars coming in HOT! 🔥🤤 how about this for a healthy twist on a classic dessert? Banoffee (banana and toffee) is probably our favourite flavour combo on the planet so we weren’t gonna accept anything less than perfection with this recipe! 👌 Here’s how you make them... ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ FOR THE BARS: ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 1 cup dates 1/4 cup almonds 1/4 cup coconut flakes 1/4 cup oats 1 tsp @vivolife  maca powder 1/2 scoop @vivolife  Banana & Cinnamon protein 1 tbsp peanut butter Pinch of Himalayan salt 1/2 tsp cinnamon ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ FOR THE FROSTING: ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 2 ripe bananas 2 tbsp peanut butter ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ METHOD: ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 1. In a food processor blend all bar ingredients except the dates and peanut butter until they are well combined. Now add the dates + PB and blend again until everything comes together. Press the mixture into a square cake tin and set to one side. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 2. In a large bowl mash your bananas, add the peanut butter and mix well. Spread this mixture evenly across the base and then transfer it all to the freezer for 1 hour to set. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 3. Allow to defrost for 10 minutes or so before cutting into bars and serving.
